Azerbaijani FM, Czech PM discuss strategic partnership, regional post-conflict situation

    Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala within the framework of his official visit to the Czech Republic on April 23.

    During the meeting, they discussed issues of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic, as well as the regional situation in the post-conflict period, the Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.

    Bayramov recalled that last year was the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic, noted that high-level political dialogue, intensive mutual visits and contacts between the two countries contribute to the development of ties on bilateral and multilateral platforms.

    The sides expressed satisfaction with the level of strategic partnership in political, trade-economic, investment, energy, transport, communication, humanitarian and other spheres, and noted the need to use the existing potential and opportunities for further expansion of ties.

    During the meeting, detailed information about Azerbaijan's chairmanship of COP29 was presented, and possibilities of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of this event were discussed. Azerbaijan's priorities in alternative energy, plans for cooperation with European countries, and opportunities for cooperation with the Czech Republic were highlighted.

    Bayramov informed Prime Minister Fiala about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, reconstruction works, mine clearance works in the Azerbaijani liberated territories, the process of normalisation of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. A wide potential for participation of Czech companies in construction works in the liberated lands was noted.

    Moreover, the Azerbaijani minister spoke about the historical conditions for the establishment of peace and stability in the region and Azerbaijan's continuous efforts in this direction.

    In this context, it was noted that an important step is the return of Azerbaijan’s four villages by Armenia in accordance with the agreement reached by the delimitation commissions.
