Media: Syrian, Israeli officials hold rare meeting in Baku

Syrian and Israeli officials met in Baku during President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s visit to Azerbaijan, Al Arabiya reports, citing a diplomatic source in Damascus.

The meeting reportedly took place on Saturday, July 12.

“A meeting between Syrian and Israeli officials was held on the sidelines of al-Sharaa’s visit to Baku,” the unnamed source told the agency.

The source noted that al-Sharaa himself did not participate in the meeting, which focused on “Israel’s recent military presence in Syria.”
