Biden, Trump accuse each other of threatening democracy

19 May 2024 15:09

The two main candidates for the US presidency - Democrat Joe Biden and Republican Donald Trump - spoke in front of their supporters and exchanged mutual insults, writes RBC.

Biden held a meeting with supporters in Atlanta (Georgia). He said that in the upcoming presidential election, "the democracy" of the United States is "at stake. "My opponent does not know how to lose with dignity. He is a loser," the incumbent said (quoted by ABS-CBN).

He said Trump has "something broken" after losing the 2020 election. "Trump is not running to lead America. He's going for revenge," Biden believes.

Trump was speaking to members of the US National Rifle Association (NRA) in Dallas, Texas, on the same day. He said Biden is "by far the worst president in the history of the country" who has a "low IQ."

"You're fired, get out of here, Joe!" - Trump said. He also called his opponent "dishonest" and a "threat to democracy." If Biden were a Republican, he would be "put in the electric chair," Trump believes.

The 60th U.S. presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024. According to a Bloomberg News and Morning Consult poll, in the states where the main battle between Democrats and Republicans is unfolding, 82% of respondents believe 81-year-old Biden is too old, while 59% of voters called Trump dangerous.
