In a recent opinion piece for Newsweek, Pesach Wolicki, host of Eyes On Israel, discusses how China is waging a proxy war against Israel. This shift has become evident through various actions and alliances, particularly China's support for Hamas.

In early November, a letter by Osama bin Laden went viral on TikTok, a platform owned by the Chinese company Bytedance, which is influenced by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). This letter, which advocates for Islamic terrorism against Israel and the West, gained surprising popularity among American teens, prompting TikTok to remove the content. Wolicki connects this to China's broader strategy against the U.S. and its allies, including Israel.

China has been strengthening its relationship with Hamas. Chinese diplomat Wang Kejian openly expressed support for Hamas, and Hamas leader Khaled Meshal has sought cooperation with China and Russia. This alliance is strategic: both Israel and Taiwan are seen as U.S. proxies.

Historically, Israel and China have maintained diplomatic and economic ties, highlighted by Prime Minister Netanyahu's 2017 visit to China. However, recent actions indicate a stark shift. Chinese suppliers have delayed shipments to Israel, and COSCO, a major Chinese shipping company, ceased operations with Israel. Furthermore, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have discovered advanced Chinese military equipment in Gaza, along with evidence of Chinese involvement in constructing Hamas's tunnel networks.

China's pivot towards supporting Hamas is closely linked to its strategic partnership with Iran. The 2021 25-year cooperation pact between China and Iran solidified their alliance, with China investing in Iranian infrastructure in exchange for discounted oil. Iran's proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah, aim to destroy Israel and ultimately the United States, aligning with China's declared "People's War" against the U.S.

Wolicki argues that China's actions in the Middle East are part of its broader goal to undermine the United States and its allies. He urges the U.S. and Israel to recognize the CCP as an adversary, given its support for Iran's geopolitical aims and its increasing hostility towards Israel.
