Estonian president calls to lift some sanctions against Russia
Estonian President Alar Karis does not consider the idea of a complete break in relations between the West and Russia to be correct.
He made the due remark in an interview for ERR, RBC-Ukraine reports.
According to him, at least Estonia is interested in the work of its ambassador in Moscow.
"As long as it is possible, it should be done. That was also one of the reasons why I accredited the Russian ambassador here... This is another channel to record at least a little bit of what's going on, even the mood of the people," Karis noted.
At the same time, he stressed that the implementation of sanctions against Russia needs to be monitored more closely.
"We have to impose sanctions and assess what the long-term effect is. Some sanctions may have no effect, so maybe we should lift some restrictions altogether," he added.
