Accounts Chamber: Restoration of Karabakh's ecosystem requires heavy investments
Chairman of the Azerbaijan Chamber of Accounts Vugar Gulmammadov has said that the restoration of the ecosystem in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan requires large resources and time.
He made the remarks at the annual meeting of the Working Group on Environmental Audit (WGEA) of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) in Baku, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
According to him, more than $10 billion has been allocated from the state budget for the restoration of these territories in 2021-2024, which determines new tasks for the Chamber.
The chairman also emphasized that Azerbaijan is among the most mine-contaminated countries in the world: “According to rough estimates, more than 1.5 million mines and unexploded ordnance are installed on the territory of the country. The mine danger makes it impossible to use the territories liberated from occupation both for living, agriculture and ecosystem restoration."
