The document was signed on May 15 by the ADA University Rector, Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev, and Director of Bayraktar Teknoloji Azerbaycan, Huseyn Topuz, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Under the memorandum, the parties agreed to cooperate in developing joint courses, organising training programs for students and faculty, and implementing academic initiatives.
The memorandum also envisions joint research projects, conferences, and seminars.
In addition, ADA students will be offered internship and employment opportunities at Bayraktar Teknoloji Azerbaycan.
The agreement is valid for three years, during which the parties will hold regular meetings to assess ongoing collaboration and develop new initiatives.
Bayraktar Teknoloji Azerbaycan is a local branch or representative office of Baykar, the Turkish defence and aerospace company best known for producing the Bayraktar TB2 and Akıncı unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This Azerbaijani entity was established as part of deepening military-technical cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
The subsidiary supports the Azerbaijani Armed Forces by providing operations and maintenance services for UAVs, while also facilitating technology transfer, training, and laying the groundwork for potential local production or assembly in the future. Azerbaijan, being one of the first foreign operators of the Bayraktar TB2—an asset that proved significant during the 2020 Second Karabakh War—benefits from this local presence through improved logistics, rapid support, and specialised training for its personnel.
