ADL: Anti-Semitic incidents rise sharply in J7 countries

29 July 2026 21:03

The number of anti-Semitic incidents recorded in the J7 countries increased significantly in 2025, with overall cases rising by 136% compared with 2022 and violent incidents nearly doubling, according to data from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

The figures show that the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Argentina and Australia recorded more than 23,000 anti-Semitic incidents during the year.

The ADL said 2025 saw the highest number of attacks targeting Jewish communities in three decades, since the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish community centre in Buenos Aires, which killed 85 people. Recent attacks in Sydney, Manchester, Washington and Boulder resulted in 20 people being injured, according to the organisation.

The ADL warned that anti-Semitism is becoming a persistent issue rather than a temporary increase linked to individual events.

The group urged governments to take preventive measures, including increasing security funding, strengthening legislation and ensuring that social media companies enforce their own policies against hate speech.
