Afghan, Uzbek FMs discuss regional security situation
Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi, held a telephone conversation with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov, during which the sides discussed the evolving regional situation.
According to Caliber.Az, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported the discussion on its official page on the social network X.
The ministers reviewed current regional developments, with particular focus on the situation involving Pakistan and Afghanistan.
During the talks, Muttaqi outlined Afghanistan’s principled position, stressing that recently introduced security measures are intended to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national airspace. He also underscored Kabul’s readiness to address existing challenges through mutual understanding and dialogue.
In turn, Saidov emphasised that diplomacy remains the only effective means of resolving the current tensions and expressed Uzbekistan’s willingness to play a practical and constructive role in future efforts aimed at stabilising the situation.
