Afghanistan announces temporary halt to military operations against Pakistan
Afghanistan's Taliban has announced a temporary suspension of its “Defensive Operations [Rad-ul Zulm]” in observance of the Muslim holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr.
“This decision has also been made in response to requests from brotherly intermediary Islamic countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Türkiye, and the State of Qatar. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan expresses its appreciation for the goodwill and constructive efforts of these friendly intermediary nations,” Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said on X, Caliber.Az reports.

The security and defense forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan hereby announce a temporary suspension of the “Defensive Operations (Rad-ul Zulm)” on the arrival of the blessed Eid-ul Fitr. 1/4
Mujahid emphasised that despite the pause, the group remains committed to national security.
“Safeguarding Afghanistan’s national security, sovereignty, and the lives of its citizens remains both a national and religious obligation. In the event of any threat, the Islamic Emirate will respond decisively,” he added.
The announcement follows a similar move by the government of Pakistan, which also declared a temporary suspension of military operations in Afghanistan during the Eid celebrations.
