Afghanistan launches air strikes on targets in Pakistan
The Air Force of Afghanistan carried out air strikes on military targets in Pakistan on Friday, including locations in the capital, Islamabad, according to a statement from the Afghan Ministry of National Defence.
The development was reported by the Afghan television channel Ariana News. According to the report, the strikes were launched at approximately 11:00 a.m. and targeted sites in the Faizabad area of Islamabad.
Afghan officials said the operation struck several military-related locations, including a military camp as well as facilities in the areas of Nowshera, Jamrud, and Abbottabad.
The ministry described the strikes as “successful,” stating that key military facilities, centres, and infrastructure were hit during the operation. According to the Afghan military, the attacks were carried out in response to overnight air strikes by Pakistani forces targeting Afghan cities, including Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia.
