Pakistan's strikes leave 36 dead, 163 wounded, Taliban says UPDATED

The Taliban say that at least 36 people, including women and children, were killed and 163 others injured in Pakistan’s overnight airstrikes on the provinces of Kunar, Paktia, and Paktika.

Hamdullah Fitrat, the Taliban’s deputy spokesperson, wrote on X on June 29, describing Pakistan’s overnight airstrikes on Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar as an act of aggression, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

The Taliban deputy spokesperson claimed that all of the casualties from the overnight strikes were civilians.

He also said that residential homes were targeted in the attacks.

Earlier, Taliban spokespersons had also confirmed the Pakistani military’s overnight airstrikes on the provinces of Kunar, Paktika, and Paktia, describing them as “cowardly” and “barbaric.”

Afghanistan has reported civilian casualties following Pakistani airstrikes carried out on several Afghan provinces on the evening of June 28, according to Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the country's supreme leader.

He said the strikes targeted the districts of Giyan, Tsamkani and Marawara district, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

"Last night, Pakistan bombed the Giyan district of Paktika Province, the Tsamkani district of Paktia Province, and the Marawara district of Kunar Province. As a result of these attacks, dozens of civilians, including women and children, were killed and wounded," he noted.
