Afghanistan suffers heavy losses as clashes with Pakistan escalate, official says

The ongoing border conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan has resulted in at least 527 Afghan military casualties, with more than 755 wounded, Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan’s Minister of Information, confirmed.

Speaking on the social media platform X, Tarar said Pakistani airstrikes have targeted 62 sites within Afghan territory since the operation began, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Pakistani forces have destroyed 237 Afghan checkpoints, seized control of an additional 38, and reportedly struck over 200 enemy armored vehicles.

Fighting along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border resumed on the evening of February 26. Afghan authorities stated that their military operation was in response to recent Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan territory. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that his country, in coordination with the Afghan Taliban government, is now engaged in open armed confrontation with Afghan forces.
