African countries indignant at West due to food crisis

The conflict in Ukraine fuels fears about hunger in Africa, and many African countries blame Western sanctions for the food crisis.

"In general, there is enough fertile land in Africa to feed the population. But for many reasons — from poor infrastructure to low productivity and droughts to armed conflicts - many countries depend on imports of agricultural products and food," the German edition of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung notes.

While Europe and the United States accuse Russia of unleashing the food crisis, many African countries side with Moscow and call for the lifting of sanctions, which have a detrimental effect on the food situation around the world.

According to the newspaper, relations between Russia and Africa remain unchanged, as evidenced by Senegal President and Chairman of the African Union Macky Sall's recent visit to Moscow.
