African Union chief warns Mideast war threatens global economic stability
The African Union (AU) has warned that the recent military escalation in the Middle East poses significant risks to both regional and global economic stability.
Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf expressed deep concern over attacks on critical infrastructure, including energy and transport facilities, which have intensified tensions across the region, Caliber.Az reports via Qatar's media.
“These actions are disrupting vital supply chains and have far-reaching implications for international trade and energy markets,” Youssouf said, condemning any violation of international law, including infringements on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
He urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint, prioritize dialogue and diplomacy, and work toward a swift de-escalation, in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter.
