AI development compared to Terminator film scenario Elon Musk issues stark warning over future risk
American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk has warned that the development of artificial intelligence could lead to a scenario similar to the film Terminator, in which humanity faces existential destruction, Fortune reports.
“We don’t want to have a ‘Terminator’ outcome. We want to be in a Gene Roddenberry outcome, like ‘Star Trek,’” Musk said.
He was referring to Star Trek, inspired by creator Gene Roddenberry, as a more optimistic future model for human–AI coexistence.
According to Musk, his company Neuralink applies artificial intelligence safety principles in the development of brain implant technologies.
He added that the research is based on an approach of symbiosis between humans and artificial intelligence, which, in his view, could reduce long-term risks associated with advanced AI systems.
