AIMC condemns Iran over airspace violations in six states
The General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers has strongly condemned what it described as Iran’s blatant aggression and the flagrant violation of the sovereignty and airspace of several Arab states.
In a statement published on its official website on Thursday, March 5, the Secretariat said the actions attributed to Iran involved violations of the sovereignty and airspace of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait.
According to the statement, the aggression was described as unjustified and represented a clear violation of international law as well as the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter.
The Secretariat emphasised the council’s categorical rejection of actions that could undermine regional security and stability or derail ongoing efforts aimed at de-escalation and peace. It also noted that Arab countries had been among the leading actors in initiatives designed to promote stability in the region.
The General Secretariat reiterated its full and unwavering solidarity with the affected Arab states and expressed support for all measures taken by those countries to safeguard their sovereignty, security and stability.
The statement also praised the response of the defence forces of the targeted countries, noting their role in repelling the attacks and implementing the necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens and the protection of vital facilities.
In addition, the Secretariat commended the high level of competence and professionalism demonstrated by the security forces of these states in addressing security threats.
