Air defences intercept missiles, drone over Iraq’s Kurdistan Peshmerga base
31 March 2026 11:08
Air defences shot down two missiles and a drone targeting the headquarters of the 70th Brigade of Peshmerga forces in Al-Sulaymaniyah, a city in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region near the border with Iran, a security official told Shafaq News.
Multiple explosions, more than five, were reported across various parts of the city. A representative from the American University of Iraq confirmed there was no attack on the campus and that operations continued as normal.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement, leaving details about the cause, impact, and any possible casualties uncertain.
