Al Arabiya: US expects Iran to attack Israel soon

The US expects Iran and Lebanon's Hezbollah to retaliate against the assassination of Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on August 8-9.

"Initial assessments predicted an attack early in the week, but the latest intelligence shows that any response could be delayed until Thursday or Friday evening," Caliber.Az reports, citing Al Arabiya.

US officials are "trying to determine the form of Iran's response" and are also wondering whether it would include a coordinated strike with Hezbollah or other groups in Iraq or Yemen.

Earlier, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah signalled that both Iran and Hezbollah would retaliate but left open the possibility of a "large-scale coordinated attack" involving multiple fronts.
