Australian PM confirms deployment of military forces to Middle East

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has stated that the country is deploying military forces as part of a contingency plan to assist Australians facing difficulties in the Middle East, according to Australian media.

“Officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade are working around the clock and engaging surge consular capacity. <…> The government is deploying six crisis response teams to the region, and we've already deployed military assets as part of contingency planning earlier this week,” he said.
