Alleged spy detained by Polish intelligence, believed to work for Russia
The Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) has detained a Belarusian national on charges of spying for Russia.
As reported by Kommersant, the detainee was held for three months as per the court’s decision, said Mariusz Kamiński, Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of Poland, coordinating the work of the special services. This makes him the 16th foreign national detained in Poland for espionage for Russia.
"ABW has detained another, already sixteenth, suspect in cooperation with the Russian spy network", wrote Kamiński on his official X (former Twitter) page.
According to the minister, the Belarusian citizen, Mikhail A., was engaged in monitoring military installations and ports as well as conducting propaganda activities in favor of Russia. Under Polish law, the names of detainees could not be released to the public until they had been sentenced.
