Ambassador talks Israel's possible involvement in operation against Houthis
Israeli Ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi did not rule out the participation of the Jewish state in the operation to protect the Red Sea from attacks by the Houthis on civilian ships with cargoes of trading companies.
He made the due statement on air of the TV channel "Russia-24".
If necessary, Israel will take part in Operation Prosperity Guardian, he said.
"This [the Houthi attacks] can affect Israel's economic blockade to some extent, so we will not sit idly by. How we will do this will be agreed upon already with the countries that participate in the coalition," Ben Zvi said.
The diplomat emphasised that the Houthis' actions affect the economy of the entire region. If ships do not sail through the Red Sea, food prices will increase throughout the Middle East.
"This will hit the economies of various countries. This is not only an Israeli issue, it is an issue, I would say, of the world community, which is why a coalition is being organised now," Ben Zvi stated.
