American fast-food giants win false advertisement lawsuit
A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against the American chain fast food restaurants Wendy's and McDonald's that accused them of false advertising.
As reported by CNN, the lawsuit alleged that the companies sold smaller hamburgers than advertised and that the food didn't look as appetizing in person as it did in their ads. The plaintiff claimed that Wendy's and McDonald's used undercooked patties in their ads to make them look better because fully cooked burgers tend to shrink and look less appetizing. The judge's decision means that the lawsuit will not proceed.
As 2020-2023 saw a record number of food industry litigations being made,
fast food chains like Burger King often deny accusations of false advertising in lawsuits by arguing that "reasonable consumers viewing food advertising know" that the food in ads has been styled to make it look as appetizing as possible.
