American journalists touring Ganja PHOTO

A group of American journalists and media experts have visited the city of Ganja as part of a trip to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.

The guests were given detailed information about the history of Ganja, Azerbaijan’s second-largest city, Caliber.Az informs, citing the press service of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Diaspora Affairs.

It was mentioned that Armenian armed forces, violating all humanitarian values and international legal norms, launched a missile attack on one of the central settlements of Ganja city, located far away from the frontline during the second Karabakh War.

The guests visited the bombed city and a moment of silence was observed to honour the memory of the innocent civilians, killed during this terrible event.

Then, the delegation got acquainted with "Khan garden", Shah Abbas Juma Mosque, Ganja State Philharmonic, and visited the monument erected in memory of the first martyrs of the Caucasian Islamic Army in Ganja and the mausoleum of Nizami Ganjavi.

The guests were informed that great Azerbaijani thinker, master of words Nizami Ganjavi wrote "Leyli and Majnun", a failed love story, 4 centuries prior to the classic English poet and playwright William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" The guests welcomed with great interest the hypothesis that the English writer was inspired by Nizami Ganjavi’s "Leyli and Majnun" poem.

It should be noted that the delegation includes journalist Vusala Abbasova, who is continuing her studies at Yale University and works at the American bureau of the Report news agency, UN Arab News bureau chief Afram Kosafi, who has long worked as a war correspondent for the world's leading media organisations (Fox TV, CNN, Al Jazeera) in conflict zones in Afghanistan, Iraq and South Lebanon, correspondent of the influential television network of the Republic of Colombia (Caracol TV and Canal 1) in New York and the capital Washington, renowned blogger Paola Vargas, founder and editor-in-chief of Schirach Report Paolo von Schirach, photojournalist of the American Bureau of Anadolu Agency, founder of Turkish Journal Selcuk Adjar and president of RC Communications, renowned journalist and political commentator Calvin Darke.

Notably, the American journalists have already visited Fuzuli, Aghali village, Shusha and Guba during their trip.
