Ammonia release recorded near Brovary in Kyiv region

An ammonia release has been recorded in the area of a fire near Brovary in Ukraine's Kyiv region, the regional military administration said.

Radiation and chemical monitoring is underway, while the fire has been contained, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.

Officials said ammonia levels in the air were only slightly above normal and posed no threat to people's lives or health.

Specialists advised residents to keep windows and doors closed, avoid going outside and switch off air conditioners. Those with air purifiers were advised to operate them at maximum power.

Brovary is a city in Ukraine's Kyiv region and the administrative centre of Brovary district and the Brovary urban community. It is Kyiv's largest satellite city and the second-largest city in the Kyiv metropolitan area after the capital.
