Amount of Russian assets frozen by UK crucially grows over 2022
From February 22 to October 20, 2022, the UK authorities froze Russian assets worth 18.39 billion pounds.
All frozen assets belong to persons on the UK sanctions lists and persons acting on their behalf, Kommersant reports, citing the report of the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) (pdf).
As noted in the report, the assets frozen by the UK totaled 44 million pounds in September 2021.
According to the report, 1,271 people fell under anti-Russian sanctions. In addition, since February 24, the UK has issued 33 general licenses with announcements of new restrictions on Russia from February 22 to August 24, 2022.
In July, [former] British Foreign Minister Liz Truss said that the British Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Finance Ministry are working on the confiscation of frozen Russian assets in favour of Ukraine.
