Android smartphones to keep track of owners at night
Google is working on snore and cough detection features on Android to provide a deeper understanding of users' sleep quality.
These features are part of an ongoing study by the Google Health Sensing Team Sleep Audio Collection, according to 9to5google.
The resource experts found lines of code in the Google Health Studies application, which says that to participate in the study, the user must be a Google employee with an Android smartphone.
The Health Sensing team is responsible for developing new features. A cough and snore monitoring app will most likely use the device's microphone to record all sounds while you sleep.
The Google Nest Hub smart speaker already has similar capabilities - the device uses Motion Sense radar to track breathing and analyse sounds such as coughing or snoring.
