Ankara, Niamey deepen ties with multi-sector agreements
Niger and Türkiye have signed a series of agreements on cooperation in higher education, trade, healthcare, and diplomatic training.
The documents were signed following talks between Niger’s President Abdourahamane Tchiani, s currently on an official visit to Türkiye, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, Niger Press Agency reports.
In the field of higher education, the two sides exchanged a protocol on the implementation of a 2026–2030 memorandum of understanding on university cooperation. The document was signed by the President of Türkiye’s Council of Higher Education, Erol Özvar, and Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad, Bakary Yaou Sangaré.
In addition, Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat and Niger's Trade and Industry Minister Abdoulaye Seydou signed a declaration establishing a joint economic and trade commission. In healthcare, the sides also exchanged a protocol on the joint operation and transfer of the Türkiye–Niger Friendship Hospital in Niamey.
