Another train derails in Essex just hours after 20 injured in Lewes, UK

A train has derailed in Essex, UK, less than 24 hours after 20 people were injured in a similar incident at Lewes, The Telegraph reports.

The latest incident occurred at Wickford and involves a Greater Anglia train.

Pictures from the scene show one of the nationalised operator’s trains has come off the tracks but has remained upright.

There are currently no reported injuries, the British Transport Police has said.

It comes less than a day after the 2.24pm London Victoria to Eastbourne service tipped off the tracks just outside Lewes on August 13.

The incident happened on the hottest day of the year as temperatures soared past 38C.

John Whitehurst, the chief executive of Greater Thameslink Railway, insisted that the railway was safe during hot weather and said that derailments were rare.
