Another unidentified drone disrupts flights at Romanian airport

29 September 2025 10:15

Flight operations at Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest, Romania, were temporarily disrupted on September 28 after an unidentified drone was detected near a runway, prompting a security response and causing delays.

According to the Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB), the appearance of a small civilian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) led air traffic controllers to alert the crew of a Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 that was approaching for landing, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media

In response, authorities suspended flight arrivals for approximately 40 minutes as a precaution. Several aircraft were relocated to safe zones, while nine incoming flights were rerouted to an alternative runway.

This is the second drone-related incident near the airport this month. On September 19, a civilian UAV was reported approximately 4 kilometers from the airport, according to Radio Romania.
