Apple employees locked in building in China for more than week
Employees of one of Apple's data centres have been locked in a building in China's Guiyang city for more than a week without the ability to leave.
The complex was closed according to the protocol within China due to an increased incidence of coronavirus, according to Bloomberg.
In its statement posted on WeChat, the US company's partner, Guizhou Cloud Big Data, confirmed that a closed-loop system that prevents employees from leaving the complex has been activated. Similar bans have been introduced at enterprises in China before.
The problem affected the employees of the data centre, which stores all the online data of hundreds of millions of Chinese iPhone users, while Guiyang itself is a city with six million inhabitants. Guizhou Cloud Big Data could not specify when exactly the ban on leaving the enterprise for workers will be lifted.
