Apple suspends development of camera-equipped AirPods Pro
Apple has suspended development of its rumoured camera-equipped AirPods Pro, according to Apple prototype collector and leaker known as "Kosutami."
In a post on X, the leaker claimed the project had been "suspended," revising an earlier statement that the product case had been "concluded." No further details were provided, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The claim contrasts with a May report by Bloomberg, which said the next-generation AirPods Pro had reached an advanced stage of testing and were nearing mass production. Bloomberg also reported that Apple had been targeting a launch in the first half of 2026 but could delay the product if it was not satisfied with the performance of new AI-powered Siri features.
According to previous reports, the earbuds were expected to include infrared cameras designed to provide visual information about a user's surroundings to Siri. The cameras were intended for artificial intelligence functions rather than taking photos or videos.
Apple has not commented on the reported suspension, and the status of the project remains unconfirmed.
