Arab League chief condemns Iran’s strikes on Gulf countries
Iran’s attacks on the territory of Arab countries in the Persian Gulf constitute a “gross violation of international law,” the new Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy, said.
“The continuation of Iranian aggression against Arab countries represents a blatant violation of the norms of international law,” Fahmy said at his first press conference since taking office as Arab League Secretary-General on July 1.
The official added that an encroachment on the sovereignty of any Arab state requires a unified and firm position from all members of the alliance.
Fahmy also noted that, during his tenure as secretary-general, he plans to reform the structure of the organisation, although he did not provide further details.
Earlier, forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) carried out strikes on US military facilities located in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan.
