Armed attacks on Taliban positions by local residents have reportedly increased in Afghanistan’s western Herat Province, which borders Iran.
Andrei Serenko, an expert at the Centre for the Study of Modern Afghanistan, said the attacks were reported by local sources, Caliber.Az reports.

According to the information cited by Serenko, unidentified assailants have attacked Taliban positions in at least four districts — Adraskan, Injil, Karukh and Farsi — over the past 10 to 12 days.
The most serious incident occurred in Farsi district, where eight Taliban fighters stationed at a checkpoint were reportedly killed in a nighttime attack.
