Armed incident in London leaves 7-year-old girl in critical condition
Six people, including two young girls, have been injured following a drive-by shooting outside a church in north London on January 14.
Emergency services were called to St Aloysius Church in Euston at around 1.30 pm local time where a funeral was reportedly taking place, according to the Mirror.
Four women and two girls aged seven and 12 were injured after a gun was fired, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The seven-year-old was in a life-threatening condition on January 14 evening while the 48-year-old woman has been assessed as having potential life-changing injuries. Two other women, aged 41 and 54, were also injured.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he is "deeply distressed" by the incident leaving a seven-year-old girl fighting for her life.
Khan said he had spoken with Scotland Yard following the shooting outside St Aloysius Church near Euston, where mourners had gathered for the funeral of a mother and daughter on January 14 afternoon.
“This is a deeply distressing incident and my thoughts are with those who were injured and their families. A police investigation is now underway and I am in close contact with the Met Police to determine what happened”, the mayor said.
