Armed man attacks military recruitment group in Ukraine’s Rivne PHOTO
In Ukraine’s Rivne region, a man armed with an automatic weapon attacked a military notification group from the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCR) and a police officer, leaving several people injured.
The Rivne Regional Police announced on Telegram that the attacker is currently being sought.
“Police in Rivne region are searching for a man who opened fire on a military notification group and a police officer. As a result of the shooting, two people were injured. The identity of the offender has been established. The head of the Rivne regional police has initiated a special police operation. Yesterday, April 29, around 5:00 p.m., members of a notification group, together with a community police officer in the village of Verba, Dubno district, saw a man walking with a bicycle.
When they tried to approach him to check his documents, he opened fire from an automatic weapon on the military personnel and the police officer. One serviceman and one police officer were injured. A criminal case has been opened for attempted intentional murder,” the statement said.
Authorities later identified the suspect as a 48-year-old resident of the Dubno district, and police are continuing efforts to locate him.
