Armed man detained outside Polish presidential palace
Police in Warsaw detained a man carrying a gas pistol outside the Polish Presidential Palace after he demanded a meeting with President Karol Nawrocki.
The man approached members of the presidential security service, identified himself as a supporter of Nawrocki and requested to meet the head of state, Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.
Security officers noticed a weapon tucked into his waistband and called the police. Officers used force during the arrest after the man refused to surrender the weapon voluntarily.
The confiscated firearm was later identified as a gas pistol.
The motive behind the 47-year-old resident of Ostrołęka for seeking a meeting with the president remains unclear.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Reports indicate that President Nawrocki was not at the Presidential Palace at the time.
