Armenia, IAEA explore advanced nuclear technologies, cooperation
Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, met with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in Paris to discuss the country’s energy sector programs and ongoing modular reactor projects.
The discussions also covered peaceful nuclear energy and other advanced atomic technologies, Sputnik Armenia reports.
The sides reviewed Armenia’s cooperation programs with the IAEA, emphasizing the continuation of technical collaboration initiatives, particularly in the areas of nuclear safety and regulatory standards.
Pashinyan traveled to Paris to take part in the Nuclear Energy Summit. In his address to the summit, he emphasized that Armenia is actively assessing proposals from international partners for the deployment of small modular reactors. He characterized these reactors as particularly advantageous, citing their reduced construction timelines and inherent scalability.
