Armenian premier condemns burning of Azerbaijani, Turkish flags as provocation
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has condemned the recent burning of Azerbaijani and Turkish flags in Yerevan, calling the incident a provocation and an irresponsible act.
The flag-burning occurred ahead of a torchlight procession held in the Armenian capital to mark the anniversary of the so-called "Armenian genocide."
The Armenian Prime Minister’s position was communicated to local media by his press secretary, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
"Prime Minister Pashinyan condemns such conduct, considering it to be irresponsible and unacceptable. The burning of the flags of internationally recognized states, especially neighboring states, cannot receive any other attitude by the leader of the country. It is a provoking and inciting conduct," Baghdasaryan stated.
On April 23, 2025, during a torchlight procession in Yerevan commemorating the so-called "Armenian genocide," participants burned the national flags of Azerbaijan and Türkiye—a provocative act that was widely reported by Armenian media and condemned by Azerbaijani sources.
