Army operations in Mali leave over 200 militants dead in 24 hours
Mali’s army has killed more than 200 militants over the past 24 hours during combat reconnaissance operations across the country, the General Staff of the Armed Forces stated.
The strikes hit a large convoy of armed militants that had crossed from a neighbouring border region and was reportedly preparing new attacks, foreign media reports..
According to an initial army assessment, the operation also destroyed four pickup trucks equipped with heavy weapons along with over 60 motorcycles.
On April 25, radical groups attacked army positions in various parts of Mali. During a regrouping of forces, government troops temporarily withdrew from the city of Kidal, which is currently under the control of fighters from the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA).
