At least 19 injured in beach stampede in South Carolina
At least 19 people were injured in a stampede at a beach in the US state of South Carolina, according to the New York Post, citing local authorities.
The incident occurred around 01:00 on May 24 (09:00 Baku time) near the resort city of Myrtle Beach. Most victims suffered minor injuries and were treated on site, while three people required hospitalization.
Emergency services said the number of injured could be higher, as some individuals may have gone to nearby hospitals on their own.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact circumstances, stating only that the stampede occurred “near a stage.” The incident coincided with an annual motorcycle festival in the area, which has previously seen similar crowd-related accidents.
