At least 27 killed in Bangkok beer hall fire VIDEO

At least 27 people were killed and dozens of others injured after a fire tore through a beer hall in Bangkok late on July 13, Thai authorities said.

The blaze broke out shortly before midnight at the Na Ladprao beer hall in the northern part of the Thai capital. Firefighters later brought the fire under control, The Associated Press reports.

Videos shared online by first responders showed flames engulfing the venue as thick black smoke poured from the building. People were seen attempting to flee the scene as the fire spread.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said investigators would examine the building's ceiling materials and determine whether any emergency exits had been blocked, potentially hindering evacuation.

By Monday morning, on July 13, the area had been sealed off as forensic teams searched the burned-out building for evidence. The force of the blaze had shattered the street-facing windows, while debris, including charred television sets, speakers and an electric guitar, was scattered across the sidewalk.

Inside the venue, burned tables and empty beer bottles remained among the fire damage, illustrating the scale of the destruction.

Later on July 13, Buddhist monks visited the site to pray for the victims, while nurses distributed face masks to nearby residents and bystanders to help protect them from smoke and lingering fumes.
