At least 30 killed in trailer crash in northern Nigeria
At least 30 people have been killed in a fatal road accident involving a trailer in Kano state, northern Nigeria, authorities said on February 8, as the state governor ordered immediate medical treatment for survivors.
The crash occurred early on the morning of February 8 at Kwanar Barde in Gezawa Local Government Area, according to local reports. The trailer, which was traveling toward Gujungu, reportedly lost control due to alleged reckless driving, leading to multiple fatalities and leaving several others seriously injured, Caliber.Az reports via Nigerian media.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf directed health authorities to provide urgent medical care to those injured in the incident. He also expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims.
In a statement signed on February 8 by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described the accident as “heartbreaking” and said it represented a grave loss not only for the affected families but for the entire people of Kano State.
