Australian anti-drone technology spotted on Ukrainian battlefield

A pickup truck fitted with an Australian-made anti-drone technology titled Slinger has reportedly been spotted in Ukraine.

The vehicle was seen in footage published on a Telegram channel named “Povernutiye na voine” (English: Obsessed with war), as Caliber.Az reports.

The images show a pickup equipped with the Slinger system, a remotely controlled combat module designed to intercept drones. It was developed by Electro Optic Systems and is marketed as a compact solution for the “low-cost” interception of drones.

The appearance of the system in Ukraine comes after it was reported in 2023 that the manufacturer planned to supply 160 Slinger systems to Kyiv.

The module is mounted on a stabilized platform carrying a 30mm Bushmaster M230LF cannon capable of firing ammunition with programmable fuzes.

For target detection, the system uses an electro-optical station together with a compact Echodyne EchoGuard radar.

According to the manufacturer, Slinger can engage a heavy hexacopter at a distance of more than 1.5 kilometres.
