Austria hosts 10th review meeting on Nuclear Safety Convention
The 10th Review Meeting on the Convention on Nuclear Safety has opened in Vienna, Austria, under the chairmanship of Faizan Mansoor.
In a post on X, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi emphasised that nuclear safety is of key importance in all countries and under all circumstances, should not be politicised, and must be applied uniformly.

He also stressed that no nuclear power plant should become a target of military action, especially amid ongoing international tensions.
“With 98 Contracting Parties, the Convention is the cornerstone of the global nuclear safety regime. Through peer review and cooperation, it helps ensure that nuclear energy is used safely and responsibly,” Grossi wrote.
“The IAEA will continue working with all countries to keep nuclear safety strong and focused on what matters most,” he added.
