“Avengers” roll up to Trump’s golf club to guard president VIDEO
The US Secret Service has deployed the US Army’s AN/TWQ-1 Avenger short-range air defence systems to protect President Donald Trump while he was playing golf in Bedminster, New Jersey, The War Zone (TWZ) reports.
According to the outlet, photographs began circulating on social media showing Trump swinging a golf club, with barbed wire and US air defence systems clearly visible in the background. The latest images emerged after the US president attended the final of the LIV Golf tournament at his New Jersey course over the weekend. US administration officials confirmed the authenticity of the photographs to the outlet.
The North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD), in turn, said that Avenger air defence systems are indeed used to protect the president but declined to disclose details about how frequently such measures are employed.
That same day, US F-16 fighter jets intercepted several aircraft that violated flight restrictions over the Bedminster golf club while Trump was there.
The US president has been the target of three assassination attempts.
