Axios: Trump engages oil bosses as Iran standoff shows no end in sight
US President Donald Trump held a meeting at the White House on April 28 with top executives of oil and gas companies to discuss the impact of the conflict with Iran on energy markets, Axios has learned.
The meeting included White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, according to a source familiar with the meeting. Chevron CEO Mike Wirth was also among the attendees, a company spokesperson confirmed.
The talks focused on domestic production, oil prices, and supply disruptions tied to the confrontation with Iran.
According to Axios, the meeting comes amid a Middle East crisis that is disrupting supply chains and pushing global oil prices higher, raising concerns over economic and political consequences in the United States.
