Axios: US–Iran deal could be reached as early as next week

The United States and Iran could reach an agreement as early as the end of next week, Axios reports, citing a senior official in US President Donald Trump’s administration.

“There will be a deal. The imminence of it, we'll see. We're willing to wait so the president gets what he asks for. It could be a week. It could be less. It could be more. At the turn of the week, we hope to have something,” the source told the outlet.

Iranian state media has reported that a deal is close but not yet finalized and claims Iran would receive billions of dollars in previously frozen funds. The White House has denied these claims. The White House also did not respond to a request for comment.
