AZAL cancels flight from Baku to Kazan amid security reasons
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has cancelled the Baku–Kazan–Baku flight scheduled for today, January 8, 2025.
As reported by Caliber.Az, the decision was made due to the closure of the airspace over Kazan as part of the "Carpet" plan.
AZAL prioritizes flight safety and strictly adheres to international standards.
Passengers of the cancelled flight can obtain further information by contacting the airline's call centre via email address callcenter@azal.az.
AZAL continues to monitor the situation closely and will promptly inform passengers of any changes.
The "Carpet" plan is a measure taken by the Russian authorities to ensure the safety of civil aviation in the event of a threat from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It restricts or completely stops the arrival and departure of flights at certain airports.
The “Carpet” plan is activated in situations where there is a threat of UAV attacks, especially from Ukraine. Such measures are taken to prevent possible incidents and ensure flight safety.
