Azerbaijan Airlines reports positive growth in passenger traffic for Q1 2025
Azerbaijan’s national air carrier, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), has released impressive results for the first quarter of 2025, highlighting a significant increase in both flight operations and passenger traffic.
AZAL conducted 3,718 flights to 48 destinations during the first three months of the year, achieving a punctuality rate of 89 per cent. This marks a 1 per cent improvement in punctuality compared to the same period in 2024, alongside a 4 per cent increase in the number of flights operated, the airline's press service told Caliber.Az.
Notably, March 2025 saw the airline's punctuality rate rise to an impressive 93 per cent, reflecting AZAL’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency.
During the reporting period, AZAL carried 865,000 passengers, which represents a 7 per cent growth compared to the 811,000 passengers transported in the first quarter of 2024. This growth underscores the airline's expanding role in facilitating air travel both domestically and internationally.
The highest passenger traffic of the quarter was recorded on January 12, 2025, when 12,350 passengers flew with AZAL. This was a notable increase from the previous year’s peak of 11,200 passengers, recorded on January 7, 2024.
With these positive figures, AZAL continues to demonstrate its strong performance and dedication to expanding its services, positioning itself as a key player in the region’s aviation sector.
